“What type of post will get my phone ringing?” “What type of post will get clients booking calls with me?”
If I had the answer to that question, I’d be rich!!!
Social selling, using content to generate inbound leads, is not about a “one size fits all” approach. You really want an answer? OK…
I enjoy hearing from my prospects and clients what it was they got from my client that made them set up a call with me so I often ask. Here’s what has inspired clients to get in touch with me:
- My business anniversary post in 2022: In this one, I didn’t just celebrate two years since I started Leverage Up, I also used it as an opportunity to ask for help. For example, one of my projects that I wanted to tackle was to revamp my website. So I asked for help with that project in that post. A prospect who signed on to be a client told me that it was that post that encouraged him to reach out to me. Why that post? I wasn’t just bragging, I knew I had more to get done so I asked for help
- “Your comment on ___________’s post was the last straw.” That one made me chuckle out loud. That’s how the DM started by a prospect who signed on to be a client. You see she had seen several recent comments and posts and that one made her send me a DM, we set up a Zoom call and she signed on to be a client a couple weeks later.
- I NEVER EVER thought that a post about the death of my sister would have led to a client. That’s what happened in a roundabout way. The husband of a lady who sent me a DM about my post on the anniversary of the death of my sister, saying she could relate on multiple levels (It was scary how our stories intersected) set up a call with me. He knew that he needed to step up his LinkedIn game, and he knew his company needed to as well
- Here’s another strange one. I went to a couple of rock concerts (Def Leppard, Poison, and Motley Crue and then Metallica) in 24 hours and I posted about the shows and what a memorable experience it was here on LinkedIn. A fellow rock music aficionado booked a call with me after he read the post. When he read it he didn’t know he needed LinkedIn services, but after talking to me, it all made sense and he signed up to work with me. He tells me he’s very happy he did
- Do you know what all of these scenarios have in common? Each of these people could RELATE with the words. Words that I used to comment or words that I used in my content.
“I’ve been following you for a while.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that one at the start of a Zoom call with a prospect – so consistently posting, consistently commenting, consistently showing up, consistently providing a profile that tells people exactly what you do. All of this wins every single time.
