If you take that philosophy into your approach to LinkedIn, you will be on the right track.
Phillip Davis, PHR and I were chatting on Clubhouse this morning in a new room that Talar ☘️ Herculian Coursey started called LinkedIn for Lawyers when we agreed on this one.
Regardless of why you are on this platform, if you take the “serve others” philosophy, you will win every time.
LinkedIn has plenty of vanity metrics – there are post views, comments, and likes. Honestly for me, it’s about helping others.
If I help others through a DM, if I help others through my content, if I help others through supporting them through the comments, then I’m supporting first.
In the end, if you are just posting, posting, posting, without engaging with others then it’s equivalent to talking to yourself in the mirror. Where does that conversation get you?
Another metaphor is going to a networking event, passing around your business card and leaving that event. That actually happened at an event I was at. Why would someone work with that guy?
When you support others, you are showing your network that it’s not about you. It’s about them.
