This is a myth.

I heard this from two different people who I spoke to yesterday. They both heard it from other people. It’s not true.

I’ll tell you why.

The truth behind networking on LinkedIn is this: if you are connected to the right people, you could have 150, you could have 300, you could 50,000.

In the end, if you are connected to genuine people who want to help you, who relate to your content, or who engage with you on this platform, you have valuable connections.

My headline says “Ask me how I grew my LinkedIn following from 400-11,000 in 18 months”. That doesn’t mean that I am on LinkedIn for the numbers. What it does show is I know how to grow networks here, I know how to engage with
like-minded people, and I know how to post good content. Does that headline get your attention? Good!

Whether your LinkedIn network has 400 or 40,000 – if you have people who you know, like, and trust in that group – it’s all good.
