“I’m not getting comments. I feel like I’m posting in a silo. Is anyone out there?”

If you have had any of these thoughts about your content, you are not alone.

If you feel like you’re on an island, you aren’t alone.

In fact, I hear it often.

With 10 million content creators on LinkedIn, many people often struggle with little to no engagement.

Can I let you in on a secret? Whenever I feel like I want to have conversations with more people here, I put on my thinking cap and I turn to a good old-fashioned poll.

Last week I did just that. I had just taken down all my Halloween decor, and I was inundated with so many Christmas commercials. So I asked people here, When do you start decorating for the holidays?

The masses answered.

That poll just closed, and here’s a snapshot of my numbers:

4708 impressions, 315 votes, and 103 comments!

My profile views went up too. Profile views are SUPER important for me these days because I’m looking for my next opportunity so the more I’m seen the better.

Do you think I will do another poll in the coming weeks? Yep! You gotta tune in to see what I will ask.

Speaking of asking…

When you post content, you are using the megaphone and standing on top of the roof. You are a thought leader in your industry. When you ask us a question, you are coming off of that roof and you are shaking hands with us to have a conversation.

Even if your version of shaking hands looks different than the rest of us. Isn’t Will Ferrell hilarious???

Now I don’t need to see 3 or 4 questions in a post; 1 or 2 is plenty. This isn’t an interrogation. Ask us a question that directly relates to the content that you’re posting.

How often do you ask questions in your content? What’s your experience with polls?

➡️ I’m looking for my next opportunity!!! I’m very interested in Director of Marketing/Communications roles. I’m also applying for content marketing, digital marketing strategy, and public relations positions. If that hiring manager would love to have someone who trained 200+ people on LinkedIn, accrued 93 LinkedIn recommendations, and built her personal brand, growing from 400-31,900+ here, I’ve got that too!
