Inspiration for content on LinkedIn can be all around you, as long as you are open to seeing it.
I got inspired to post this one while walking this morning at a local park. I came across a pond with dozens of turtles swimming in it. I snapped this picture of one of them, it was hiding in the grass until I walked closer to it, and was able to see it more clearly.
Camouflage…Animals use it all the time to hide from predators. They blend in to avoid being hunted, to avoid being seen, to avoid being captured. They blend in to avoid all the stuff.
Do you blend in here on LinkedIn? Do you know that you are blending in?
Just think about it. There are one billion people on LinkedIn.
Yes, billion with a B. There are one BILLION people on LinkedIn.
If you don’t stand out from everyone who does what you do, you are just blending in.
When you are using a template for your LinkedIn banners…you are blending in.
When you are using your job title in your LinkedIn headline…you are blending in.
When you are copying and pasting job descriptions into your experience section OR just lisint all the jobs with no bragging about your wins…you are blending in.
You are camouflaging with everyone else. Do you want to blend in???
If you don’t want to blend in, then you have to…STAND OUT. Be the unicorn among all the people who are blending in here on the world’s largest social networking platform.
Here are a few ways to be the unicorn on LinkedIn.
Instead of a Canva template graphic that says NOTHING about what you do, create a graphic or image that says EXACTLY who you are and what you do. One that captures your personality and your business, and/or your job or the essence of why you do what you do.
Where else will you see the Buffalo Bills logo on someone’s profile? I am a HUGE Buffalo Bills fan, and I will always brag about that on my LinkedIn profile. I’m a human and a multi-dimensional human so why not showcase that part of my personality???
Your professional life is so much more than just your job title. Your headline should be a representation of who you are, what you do, and your DIFFERENTIATOR.
What makes one project manager different than another?
What makes one attorney different than another?
What makes one account executive different than another?
Answer: Probably a lot!
Why should I pay attention to you rather than someone else who uses the exact same job title?
Tell us what makes you unique. If you are a unicorn, tell us why you stand out among everyone else who does what you do! Tell us why we should pay attention to you.
Keep in mind, we want to know how what you do impacts us. Tell us how you solve OUR problem.
In the comments, tell us what makes you unique, what makes you stand out from everyone else who does what you do, OR tell us why you prefer to camouflage yourself here on LinkedIn.
