Why? A very small percentage of people on LinkedIn are posting original content on a consistent basis.
If you’re nervous about posting content here or perhaps you don’t know what to post about or what direction to take your posts, I have a message for you.
You are the captain of this ship. You can post what you want and when you want. You can reveal as much or as little of your professional and personal life as you want.
It’s your LinkedIn profile and account to customize and put your spin on.
That being said, there are so many benefits of creating a a consistent content creation schedule that will help you grow your network here on LinkedIn.
I have been able to market my business here WITHOUT spending ANY money on advertising. When people see my content or my comments (because I comment even when I’m not posting), they often visit my profile page to see what I’m all about.
There’s a difference between posting anything you wish and posting content that produces value for your network. In order to do the latter, you should ask yourself:
“What type of knowledge can I share?”
“What lesson can I teach my connections?”
And if you’re a business owner…
“What do my prospective customers want to know about my business?”
There is a difference between sharing value and a blatant advertisement. That being said if you don’t include a Call To Action, well, you just may not get any. Blunt, but truth.
The goal when you’re posting content here is to share an appetizer to keep them coming back for the main course.
What’s your take on creating content?
Speaking of content, what do you think about me coming back on video on a regular basis? Should I start posting videos once a week?
Video is how I started here four years ago but the majority of my posts have been via text for a long time now.
