They were all good years.
My daughter was born in 2012, I celebrated my 10 year anniversary in 2014, and in 2017 we moved from Buffalo, NY to Columbus, OH.
That being said, a lot has changed since then. I’m sure I’m not the only one to endure change over the years.
In business, things have changed as well. Just think of how our phones have changed and transformed over the years. ☎️ 📞 📱
Here’s my point…
If I was researching a restaurant, and the reviews were from 2012, 2014, 2017, I would instantly think “What’s that place like today?” That was a LONG time ago!
Same thing goes for your recommendations here on LinkedIn.
If you don’t have a recommendation on your profile that’s been posted in the last 3-6 months, I suggest getting on that.
Just like restaurant reviews that are years old, if you don’t have recent recommendations on your profile then how does that look to prospective clients, prospective hiring managers, prospective connections.
It’s about what you’re doing now, not what you did in 2012, 2014 or 2017. So update those recommendations!
I’ll have a tip on how to get those recommendations in a timely manner in the comments.
Thank you to all those who voted in my poll last week – in case you haven’t picked up on it – this post is 1 thing you can do to improve your profile. I’ll post an engagement tip on Thursday.
